In 1974 Luftspares (Pty) Limited was formed and was to become what is today a leader in the fan manufacturing and air movement industry. The previous managing director, until December 2015, of Luft Industries Natal (Pty) Limited, Anton Jansen, opened the Durban branch in 1978. At the time, there were only a handful of fan suppliers in South Africa, but Luftspares was soon to make its mark in this rapidly developing industry. In the early 80’s, the company changed its name to Luft Industries (Pty) Limited. It wasn’t long before this new dynamic fan supplier took its place beside the leading manufacturers of the day. Frequent visits abroad in search of new technology and the continuous introduction of new products, made Luft the most active and progressive fan distributor of the decade. The company had its head office in Cape Town with branches in Johannesburg and Durban. Agents were appointed in Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and South West Africa (Namibia). In 1991, the company was sold to a large building construction company who dropped the Luft name and traded under the name of Associated Air Industries. Two years later, Luft Industries (Pty) Limited together with other companies in the air movement industry, were sold to a large fan manufacture in Johannesburg. In 1995, Anton Jansen and Alberto Caetano continued with the Durban operation and formed a new company, which is today, Luft Industries Natal (Pty) Limited.
The company boasts over 200 years of collective experience in the fan industry which allows it to assist clients with a wide variety of projects. They offer both international and South African known brands of fans, and manufacture axial, centrifugals, silencers and other ancillary equipment locally in their factory/head office in Durban.
